إن أى مواطن سورى مهما كان على درجة عالية من الفطانة، وأى محقق أو باحث أياً كانت منزلته فى عالم التحرى ودراسة التاريخ، لن يقتنع بأن فئة حاقدة صادرت الحكم فى سورية من أصحابه الشرعيين بالبطش وقوة السلاح، فهدمت الحياة الدستورية والمدنية من القواعد، وأغرقت الوطن فى كل أصقاعه بالدماء والمجازر الجماعية، وباعت البلاد بثمن بخس أو بدون ثمن لأشد الناس عداوة للذين آمنوا، ليضمنوا دعمه فى بقائهم فى السلطة عقوداً أخرى، ومزقوا وحدة الجيش، وجردوه من كل أسباب القوة المادية والمعنوية والسلاح، ليسلموه عن وعى وقصد لهزيمة مخزية نكراء، ونهبوا المال والثروة، ليودعوا المليارات فى بيوت المال الأوروبية والأمريكية، ويتركوا الأكثرية من المواطنين (الذين كانوا فى رغد وبحبوحة قبل أن تحكم هذه الأقلية) فى فقر مدقع وتحت خط الفقر، وأقاموا مع الصهاينة هدانة وسلاماً دائماً وشهر عسل منذ أكثر من 40 سنة، ولا يزال، وسلموا أمنع الحصون دونما حرب أو دفاع.
أقول: لا يمكن لأحد أن يصدق ذلك إلا إذا قرأ هذا السفر بما يحتويه من وثائق وحقائق مذهلة، ليدرك أن كارثة السوريين الذين يعيشون فى ظل حكم عرفى دائم أكبر مما يخطه قلم، أو يحيط به دارس أو باحث، وعلى هذه الصفحة أوجه للعرب والمسلمين ولكل ذى ضمير صيحة مدوية، بل استغاثة ألم: أن يعملوا على تحطيم القيود والأغلال التى يرسف بها السوريون منذ نيف وأربعة عقود ولا يزالون على مسمع من العالم وبصره عسى الله أن يأذن بنهاية لما تعانيه سورية من مأساة لم يبتل أى شعب بمثلها منذ منتصف القرن الماضى وحتى كتابة هذه الكلمات الحزينة، والله غالب على أمره.
