هذا ديوان حسن نظمه, وعلا نجمه, وصح مقصده, وصفا مورده, قد صدق حامده, وضل حاسده, قد شرف بمدح الكرام, وعز بدحض اللئام, شهره صاحبه كالصارم القرضاب, وجعله في نحر من سب مكارم الأصحاب.
أما ناظمه فهو عالم جليل لغوي شاعر أديب فقيه أصولي متبحر, طارت شهرته وشارع ذكره, وملأ الأسماع مدحه وشكره, وسارت بتآليفه الركبان, وأنثي عليه أعيان الزمان, وقد نظم ديوانه هذا في الرد علي الشاعر الشيعي دعبل الخزاعي الذي أساء لنفسه بسبه صحابة النبي الكرام, وانتقص حقهم ومالهم من المكارم العظام, فكان الرد عليه واجبا من واجبات الإيمان, وخصلة من خصال الإحسان, لا سيما وهم حملة الدين, ونقلة السنن والآثار عن النبي المصطفي المختار.
هذا ولم نأل جهداً -بحمد الله تعالي- في نسخ هذا الكتاب وضبطه من أصوله المحفوظة, وقد وفقنا له علي أصلين واضحين ياتي بيانهما وعرض نماذجهما لاحقا, كما اعتنينا كذلك بضبط هذا الديوان بالشكل, وإثبات الفروق المهمة بين النسختين, وشرح غريب ألفاظه ومعاينه, وفهرسة قوافيه, وقدمنا للكتاب يترجمة ضافية لصحاب الديوان, وأتبعناها بترجمة للشاعر دعبل الخزاعي الذي تولي صاحبنا الرد عليه, وذلك إتماما للفائدة.
