هذا الكتاب دراسة ميدانية لبعض احتياجات الدين والأمة تجمع في طياتها سلسلة من التأملات في طبيعة الدين وحالة الراهن. وتأثير كل منهما في الآخر، وإذا كان التحدي الحضاري الراهن في جوهره تحدياً ثقافياً أدركنا أن مجابهة هذا التحدي لن تأتي بطائل ما لم تعمل ضمن إستراتيجية عمل ثقافي، لذلك كانت هذه الأفكار التي تتألف منها الدراسة تمثل نماذج للوسطية التي تضع نصب عينيها أن يكون للمسلمين مكان متميز على خارطة الثقافات في عالمنا المعاصر ليس بالالتجاء إلى الغير ومقاربته بالتقليد والتكديس، ولكن بالتميز والأصالة وتعميق الملامح المؤكدة على أن المستقبل للمسلمين، إن عادوا إلى إقرأ، وذلك التحدي يوجب علينا إعادة النظر وتحويل الاختراق إلى مواجهة لا تقوم على الانفعالات أو الاندفاعات أو التهورات الكلامية للعواطف، ولا على الخوف، بل تمتزج المواجهة بقيم التفوق وبذل الجهد وحضور الروح. إن الأجيال العربية والإسلامية تحتاج اليوم إلى الأسلوب الأفضل لإيصالهم إلى أهدافهم الملموسة دون إهمال للعواقب غير المتوقعة بالنسبة لهم. السلطة أو الثروة ليست مبتغى الكتاب فالكتاب يرفض المقايضة على الإنسان بهما، بل يضع حداً للسخط وقلق البال من الخوف والاضطراب التشاؤم ويصر على التشبث بما نملك وترقية الفكر والسلوك بالفلاح، ووضع الأقدام على الطريق الصحيح فالنهاية المشرقة لا تكون إلا ببداية موفقة ونحن نملك محفزات النهوض وما ينقصنا هو الإرادة التي تنقل الفكرة من حيز التصور إلى مواقع التنفيذ
