هذه سلسلة من أبطال الإسلام نقدمها للقراء الأعزاء في تتابع معقول، وترابط موصول باذن الله ولا حول ولا قوة إلا به، وشاء الله عز وجل- ونعم ما شاء- أن تكون الصفحة الأولى من أبطال الإسلام عن العلاء بن الحضرمي، ولعل هذا البحث يعتبر أوسع بحث ظهر إلى الآن عن هذا الصحابي الجليل ذلك القائد المؤمن، والمجاهد الداعية، صاحب اليقين الثابت، والتأثير النافذ، والبصيرة الهادية، والدعوة المجابة، أحد كتاب الوحي، وأمير البحرين على عهد رسول الله (صلى الله عليه وسلم) والصاحبين من بعده، أبي بكر وعمر رضي الله عنهما، وكان صاحب لواء في حروب الردة. وبإيمانه وشجاعته وشفافية روحه وقلبه، وصفاء عقله ونفسه، مكن للإسلام في البحرين بعد انتكاس اهلها، ورغم انف الشرك، وعبر البحر إلى جزيرة "دارين" حتى طهرها من المارقين، وكان منطلقاً بدأ منه الطريق إلى دولة الفردوس وأبلى البلاء الحسن طوال حياته، ولقد أردنا عند الكتابة عن هؤلاء الأبطال أن نغوص إلى العبرة من الأحداث ونلقي ضوءاً على هذه الفترة المليئة بالتضحيات، ولم نتوسع في التواريخ الشخصية وفي المناقب والفضائل لكل بطل، بل قصدنا إلى الإلماعات والإلماحات.
