استطاعت الباحثة أماني حامد أن تقدم لنا موضوع وصف القصور والديار من خلال درس نقدي اتسم بالوعي بالظاهرة والإلمام بكافة جوانبها وحصر أهم شعرائها، والقدرة على اختبار النماذج التي يتجلى من خلالها وصف القصور والديار وقد جعلت الباحثة هذا التصوير موزعًا على أغراض الشعر العباسي فتحدثت عن التصوير الفني في مدائح القصور والديار، وهجائها ورثائها، ثم حللت لنا قصيدة وصف القصور والديار من خلال تتبعها لنمط بنائها من حيث المقدمات والتخلص والخواتيم.
ولم تنس الباحثة أن تتوقف أمام أنماط التصوير الفني لوصف القصور والديار، فتناولت الأنماط الحسية والأنماط البلاغية، وقد اجتهدت بذوق فني رفيع في تحليل هذه الصور سواء أكانت حسية أم بلاغية، ولم تدخر الباحثة جهدًا في الحديث عن التشكيل الجمالي في التصوير الفني لوصف القصور والديار في الشعر العباسي من حيث الأوزان والقوافي، حيث تتبعت هذه الأوزان والقوافي في شعر مشاهير شعراء هذا العصر من نحو البحتري وابن الرومي وأبي تمام والمتنبي وغيرهم، ولقد ساهمت هذه الدراسة في الكشف عن توثيق هؤلاء الشعراء لهذا الجانب الحضاري المتمثل في القصور والديار مع ربط هذا التوثيق بالحالة النفسية لهم مما أتاح لنا الكشف عن الكثير من العطاءات الدلالية التي كشفت فيما كشفت عنه أيضًا عن عبقرية الباني التي تحولت بالشعر إلى آثار خالدة.
وبعد فقد يبدو الموضوع على طرفته غير جديد، إلا أن الدكتورة أماني حامد قد استطاعت بما امتلكته من أدوات علمية أن تضفي عليه جدة وطرافة، فأصبح ما قدمته لنا من خلال هذا الموضوع يمثل إضافة إلى البحوث الجادة في حقل الدراسات العباسية.
