لقد أجمعت الدراسات التى بحثت في تربية الطفل أن تنمية المهارات الحركية وتطورها خلال مرحلة الطفولة إنما تحتاج إلى التخطيط الجيد والتدرج في الأنشطة المختلفة وإنتقائها بدقة، ومتابعة الطفل متابعة جيدة. ويود المؤلف أن يؤكد بين طيات هذا الكتاب على تطوير المهارات الحركية الضرورية للأطفال طبقاً للمراحل السنية، بالإضافة إلى تضمنه للعديد من الجوانب تهدف إلى تمتع الطفل وقضاءه وقتا مرحا سعيداً من خلال الأنشطة الحركية.
ويلم الكتاب بين رافدية خمس فصول جاء الأول تحت عنوان "مفاهيم التربية الحركية، والذى حاولنا فيه تلخيص أهم جوانب التنفيذ وجوانب البيئة التعليمية التطبيقية للتربية الحركية. أما الفصل الثاني فقد تصدر التحول إلى التطبيقات المباشرة لأنشطة التربية الحركية حيث جاء تحت عنوان "الأنشطة التطبيقية لمهارات الانتقال" إذ حوى العديد من الأنشطة المتنوعة التى تحقق تطبيقات هذه المهارات.
أما الفصل الثالث فقد ضم "الأنشطة التطبيقية لمهارات الثبات" والتى تسمى أيضاً بالمهارات غير الانتقالية ويطلق عليها البعض مهارات الجمباز وجاء الفصل الرابع يوضح "تطيبقات أنشطة المعالجة والتعامل ما الأداة"، وقد ركزنا جهودنا على أن تكون الكرة هى الأداة الرئيسية، فكانت في صور كرات مختلفة الملمس والاحجام والأوزان. وقد ختم الفصل الخامس الكتاب فقد حوى "تطبيقات أنشطة الايقاع الحركى" وقد قدمنا أمثلة عديدة منها بالكرات وعصى الطبول والاطواق والقفازات والإيشاربات.
وعلى المدرسات والمدرسين أن يراعوا استخدام كل أسلوب من أساليب تنفيذ المهارة والتي يطلق عليها ايضا مفاهيم الحركة مع أنواع المهارات الثلاث الأصلية (الانتقال- الثبات- المعالجة والتعامل) وسيحصلوا من خلال ذلك على عدداً كبيراً من الأنشطة الحركية، وبذلك نكون قد قدمنا للأطفال أنشطة متنوعة متعددة متحدية شيقة تزيد من خبراتهم الحركية والتعليمية بالصورة المرغوبة.
