التعليم هو صناعة الحاضر والمستقبل، وهو عملية بناء البشر، والتعليم مدخل أساسي وهام لاصلاح المجتمع وتطويره وتقدمه.
وإذا كان ذلك أمراً مرئياً في العالم المتقدم، فإن ثمة حاجة ماسة إليه في الدول النامية، الساعية إلى اللحاق بالعالم المتقدم، فهي في حاجة ماسة لاتخاذ التعليم مدخلاً لاصلاح المجتمع وتحديثه، وذلك منذ البداية أن يكون الاهتمام بالطفل كإنسان من حقه ان يستمتع بالمرحلة الراهنة في نموه يحيا في ظل الأمان والمرح وينمى امكاناته وقدراته وهذا الهدف السامي يأتي قبل ان يكون الهدف هو إعداد الطفل من أجل تنمية المجتمع.
والروضة لا تهدف أساساً الى تعليم مبادئ القراءة والكتابة والحساب، وإنما العلم على تنمية المفاهيم التي تؤهل لاكساب هذه المهارات في جو يسوده الحب والتسامح، وعن طريق الأنشطة المتنوعة تنمو شخصية الطفل كما تنمو قدرته على التعبير عن رغباته وتكوين مفهوم ايجابي عن ذاته، ومن أكثر الأنشطة ارتباطاً بالطفل الأنشطة الحركية، فالحركة واللعب هي الطبيعة والحاجة الأساسية للطفل في هذه المرحلة السنية، ومن هنا فإن استخدام الحركة في إطار من اللعب كوسيلة تربوية شاملة قد بدأ أكثر مناسبة لهذه المرحلة من أي مرحلة أخرى من العمر، وهو في نفس الوقت يساعد على الانتقال الآمن من مرحلة رياض الأطفال... بألعابها الترويحية... إلى الحلقة الأولى من التعليم الأساسي.
ولأهمية هذا الموضوع، تناولته الأستاذة الدكتورة إبتهاج محمود طلبة لتسلط الضوء على المهارات الحركية لطفل الروضة وذلك في خمسة فصول توزعت وفق ما يلي: الفصل الأول: طفل الروضة، الفصل الثاني: تربية طفل الروضة، الفصل الثالث: اللعب، الفصل الرابع: التربية الحركية، الفصل الخامس: نماذج.
