إذا كان موضوع بحثنا يرتبط بشكل مباشر بمنهج البحث فى علم الطب عند علماء العرب فإننا لا نريد أن نقع فيما وقع فيه كثيرون ممن سبقنا من تعصب للتراث العلمي العربي، أو تعصب عليه لأن التعصب له لا يضيف إلى قيمته الحقيقة شيئا كما أن التعصب عليه لا ينقص من اهميته الحقيقية شيئاً، لذلك أردنا من خلال بحثنا هذا، أن نقف موقف وسطاً، وأن نذهب مذهباً معتدلاً فلا نشط ولا نبالغ، بل ننطلق فى توضيح دور المنطق فى علم الطب عند علماء العرب، بشكل موضوعي وأدلة علمية من خلال نصوص وكتابات العلماء العرب أنفسهم.
ومن هنا صحت عزيمتنا من خلال دراستنا هذه، والتى تقتصر على جانب هام لم ينل حظه بعد من الدراسة والبحث، ولم يعتنى به الدارسون عناية خاصة ألا وهو دور المنطق فى علوم الطب والصيدلة عند علماء العرب.
ولهذا فإن من بين أهداف البحث بعث التراث الطبي والمنطقي عند علماء العرب بحيث يكون ذلك شاهداً على المنزلة الكبيرة التى بلغتها عناية العرب بهذه النوعية من الدراسات الجادة والمتميزة وبيان مدى نجاح الفكر العربي فيها. وخاصة فى تطوير ما تلقاه من أفكار يونانية لكي يصوغ ثقافته بشكل خاص، والتى تعبر عن واقعة المتميز.
وقد قام هذا البحث على منهجين أساسيين هما المنهج التاريخي، والمنهج التحليلي المقارن.
ويتمثل المنهج التاريخي فى إلقاء الضوء على مدرسة الإسكندرية وأهميتها فى نشأة التقليد الطبي المنطقي، وكذلك دور مكتبة الإسكندرية الرائد، وما تحمله من نفائس الكتب وما ساهمت به بشكل فعال فى نشر شتى العلوم والمعارف العربية والمترجمة.
كذلك الحديث عن دور علماء بغداد، والخلافة العباسية وما اتسم به ذلك العصر من رعاية الخلفاء العباسيين للترجمة والمترجمين، والأطباء وتقليدهم العطايا والمناصب وغير ذلك.
أما المنهج التحليلي يتمثل فى إلقاء الضوء على أهم النصوص الطبية لجالينوس، وتحليلها للتوصل إلى مدى الصلة الوثيقة التى تربط المنطق بالطب عنده، وذلك من خلال دراستنا لبعض كتبه الهامة.
كذلك تحليل بعض النصوص الطبية للعلماء العرب، بعد وصول التقليد الطبي المنطقي إليهم عن طريق حركة الترجمة، وتحليل الأسباب التى أدت إلى قيام العرب بترجمة الكتب الطبية على وجه الخصوص لارتباطها بعلم المنطق.
