يقولون دائما (مسك الختام)عن الشئ الذي جاء متأخرا في الزمن ومتفوقا في المضمون على كل ما سبقه ، ورغم أن هذا الكتاب يحتوي على ختام كلمات العقاد واخر ما كتبه قلمه على الأوراق.. إلا أننا لا يمكننا قول هذا عنه ، لأن العقاد عاش عمرا طويلا لم يمنح القراء والأمة بل العالم سوى المسك، هذا الذي تجسد في كتاباته ودراساته وجميع مؤلفاته، بل شمل شخصيته وصفاته التى كانت صورة صادقة لكل ما كتب فلم يكن سوى تجسيدا وتحقيقا لها ، ولم تكن سوى إنعكاسا لواقع وفكر حقيقي .. وفي هذا الكتاب على صغر حجمه نعيش معه في كلمات العقاد وعوالمها المديدة .. ولكننا لا نقيدها في قالب أو مسمى أو تصنيف ، إنما نتركها تأخذ حجمها الحقيقي في عقل القراء، ونكتفي بأنها "كلمات" تآلفت فألفت أعمق النظرات والفلسفات التى إمتاز بها صاحبها على غيره.. إنها ..كما جاءت على عظم قدر كابتها جاءت لتتحدث عن كافة صور الحياة وتفاصيلها عن الحب والدين والحق والثقافة والموت وكثيرا مما اختزل في سطور قليلة،ولم يزده الاختزال إلا عمق على عمقه وعظمة على عظمته .. فمع هذه الكلمات التى نحيا معها إلى جانب العقاد نستطيع أن نطلع على زوايا أخرى ننظر منها لأبسط الأشياء وأجلها زوايا لا يستطيع الإشارة والنفاذ إليها سوى "العقاد ".
