يعد منصب رئيس الجمهورية من المناصب ذات البال, وذات الاهتمام من جميع ألوان وأطياف المجتمع في أي دولة- على وجه العموم- ومصر- على وجه الخصوص- نظراً لجلالته, وللمهام التي يقوم بها من يشغل هذا المنصب.
وعندما قامت ثورة 25 يناير 2011, وأزاحت النظام السابق, فإن الأمر تغير, وبات الترشح لمنصب الرئاسة, للأجدر من أبناء البلاد لقيادة دفة الحكم- استناداً للقاعدة الأصولية بمساواة المواطنين أمام القانون- لمدة محددة سالفاً, وبشرط توافر الشروط التي نص عليها الإعلان الدستوري الصادر في 30 مارس 2011, حيث بين هذا الإعلان على شروط الترشح لمنصب رئيس الجمهورية في المادة 26 منه.
ونبين فيما يلي الشروط الواجب توافرها فيمن يرشح نفسه لرئاسة الجمهورية- وإذا توافرت الشروط التي نص عليها الإعلان الدستوري, فإنه يجب لقبول الترشح توافر عدة شروط أخرى- دراسة تحليلية, انتقادية. وعلى هدي ما تقدم نقسم هذا الكتاب إلى فصلين على النحو التالي: شروط الترشح لرئاسة الجمهورية, شروط قبول الترشح وإجراءاته.
