قال القاضي عليّ بن عبد العزيز الجرجانيّ (ت 366هـ) صاحب الوساطة: "وكانت العربُ إِنَّما تُفَاضِلُ بين الشُّعراء في الجودة والحُسْنِ بشرف المعنى وصحّته".
يجتهدُ صاحب هذا الكُتَيِّب في تلمُّس المعاني الشريفة البعيدة الغور التي تقبع في لاميّة الأَعْشَى الذّائعةِ الصِّيت، الّتي أَوَّلُها:
"وَدِّعْ هُريرةَ إِنَّ الرَّكْبَ مُرْتَحِلُ... وهلْ تُطيقُ ودعاً أيُّها الرَّجُلُ"...
