ومن قبل إندلاع هذه الأزمة لم تسفر مناهج التنمية المتبعة في عالمنا العربي, وكلها تسير علي توافق وأشنطن, عن تحقيق إستنهاض المنطقة العربية رغم الثروات الإستثنائية التي تنفرد بها وأهمها أمتلاكها لأكثر من65% من أحتياطي النقط العالمي أهم السلع قاطبة في حياة البشر اليوم بعد الغذاء والماء.
لهذا فإن طرق أبواب البدائل بات من أهم ما يشغل صناعة الفكر في العالم العربي, خاصة بعد أن أصبح العالم يملك رصيداً متنوعاً من هذه البدائل, ولم يعد النهج الغربي يحتكر وحده طريق التنمية.. وولوجاً إلي هذه البدائل طرحت الندوة المشتركة بين مركز البحوث العربية والأفريقية والجمعية العربية للبحوث الإقتصادية الوضع التنموي الحالي في العالم العربي ثم تناولت بالتمحيص بدلين وهما: البديل الإشتراكي والبديل التكاملي العربي, ولا يعني هذا أن باب الإجتهاد قد أغلق دون هذين البديلين, ولكن هذه الندوه بهذا العمل تكون قد وضعت نبراساً في أول الطريق البحث وهو ما يطرحه هذا الكتاب, قد يقود إلي أنتهاج أكثر البدائل جدوي في تحقيق حلم الصعود التنموي العربي.
