إن أهم ما يميِّز هذا العصر عمَّا تقدِّمه من عصور هو التفات أبنائه إلى تراث الآباء والأجداد، والسَّعي الحثيث إلى بعثه وتحقيقه، لما فيه من ذخائر وكنوز، قلَّ نظيرها عند غيرنا من الأمم مدفوعين إلى ذلك بدافع دينيّ، وهو الحفاظ على علوم الدين - ومنها علم اللّغة وآدابها - وبدافع قوميّ، وهو الحفاظ على اللَّغة العربيّة حيّةً متجدِّدة، لأنها العامل الموحِّد والأساس من عوامل الوحدة العربية.
ومن هذه المساهمات في إحياء التراث العربي، كتاب "أسرار العربية" لأبي البركات الأنباري، الذي اختاره المؤلف بركات هبّود لتحقيقه والتعليق عليه، وذلك لما يتم به هذا الكتاب من جدّة في موضوعه، وبحثه عن علل الإعراب، وأسباب تسمية كثير من المصطلحات النحوية التي يعود إليه الفضل في جمعها، وإن كان النّحاة قبله قد ذكروا شيئاً منها في ثنايا موضوعاتهم التي طرقوها.
ولم يكن أبو البركات في كتابه هذا جامعاً وحسب، وإنَّما كان يطرح التَّساؤلات، ثم يجيب عنها إجابة العالم الواثق، السَّريع البديهة، الحاضر الذّهن، في الإتيان بالشَّواهد المناسبة، والحُجج القاطعة التي يدعم بها آراءه.
وبناءً على ذلك، جاء الكتاب في ثلاثة أقسام هي: القسم الأول: قسم التمهيد، وفيه تناول المحقق المباحث التالية: أولاً: تعريف موجز بأبي البركات الأنباريّ، ثانياً: منهج أبي البركات النّحوي في كتاب "أسرار العربيّة"، ثالثاً: عمله في الكتاب، القسم الثاني: الكتاب محقَّقاً، القسم الثالث: قسم المسارد الفنيّة.
