إن تاريخ مصر السياسي قد تميز بالدور البارز الذي يلعبه الفرد في حركة التاريخ المصري. هذا الدور الذي يتسم بوقوف الرأي العام مع الفرد الحاكم أو صاحب السلطة، عندما يقوم بعمل إيجابي لصالح الوطن. وفي نفس الوقت؛ تحكم الكثير من الاتجاهات هذا الرأي العام، منها العاطفية والتلقائية دون الاستناد إلى حكم الفكر والعقل، لما يقوم به هذا الفرد. وشخصية إبراهيم عبد الهادي تعكس هذه الصورة سواء في تقابلها أو تعارضها مع أحداث التاريخ المصري. ومع أن إبراهيم عبد الهادي نشأ في بيئة أرستقراطية، إلا أنها كانت مفعمة بالعمل الوطني، والروح الثورية. نال أجازة الحقوق، ومارس مهنة المحاماة وشارك في الحياة البرلمانية لأول مرة ودخل نائبًا لبلدته "الزرقا" في انتخابات 1930م. وشارك إبراهيم عبد الهادي في العمل السياسي، مع البذور الأولى لثورة سنة 1919م، سواء من خلال أحداثها العلنية، أو من خلال تنظيمها السري، ونتيجته لذلك اتهم في قضية المؤامرة الكبرى وقضى في السجن أربع سنوات. كذلك اتهم في حادث مقتل السردار، والتي كان لظهور براءته فيها، إعلان صريح للصدام الحاصل بينه وبين بريطانيا، حيث أصدرت إنذارها بمنعه من الممارسات السياسية، ومع ذلك استمر دور إبراهيم عبد الهادي السياسي سواء من خلال عضويته في حزب الوفد أو من خلال وجوده برلمانيًا داخل مجلس النواب. وواصل إبراهيم عبد الهادي دوره السياسي بعد انفصاله عن الوفد مع زميليه أحمد ماهر، ومحمود فهمي النقراشي، وتكوينهم لحزب جديد هو حزب الهيئة السعدية. كما تولى إبراهيم عبد الهادي أكثر من منصب وزاري بدءًا من 18 أغسطس سنة 1939م، حتى وصوله إلى منصب رئيس الوزراء في 28 ديسمبر سنة 1948م. وبعد إقالته من رئاسة الوزارة في 25 يوليو سنة 1949م، لم تنقطع علاقة إبراهيم عبد الهادي بالعمل السياسي، بل أنه واصل نضاله السياسي من خلال رئاسته لحزب الهيئة السعدية، حتى قامت ثورة 23 يوليو سنة 1952م، لتعلن ضربها للأحزاب القائمة وقتذاك وطردها للسياسيين القدماء ومن بينهم إبراهيم عبد الهادي.
