عمد الأفق المعرفي المعاصر الذي حُدد للنظر في "مُتخيّل النصوص الدينية" إلى تقديم تصور جديد حدّ من منزلة المقدّس، معتبراً إياه بُعداً من أبعاد عديدة تؤسّس ماهية الإنسان. وفي هذا التصوّر تجاوزٌ للمكانة التي تعوّدنا أن نجد فيها المقدّس باعتباره البُعد الأوحد للكائن البشري. وفي المقابل، فإن التصور المعرفي الجديد وسّع من آفاق البحث في خصائص النصوص الدينية، فلم تعد تلك النصوص مجالاً خاصاً بفلسفة الأديان وتاريخها.
وفي سياق النظر في تلك الأمور ننزل بحثنا هذا باعتباره محاولة نقف فيها على بعض خصائص النصّ المقدّس، بفكّ رموزه واستجلاء دلالاته، من خلال النظر في "الأحداث المُتخيّلة" الثاوية في مظان "قصص الأنبياء والرسل"، فبحثنا لا يخرج على الآفاق التي تروم "تفكيك الخطاب الديني" فهماً لطرق إنتاجه للمعنى، وذلك باستجلاء كنهه وتبيّن آليات تشكّله من خلال النظر في السياق الذي نشأ فيه الخطاب الديني.
إن النصوص المقدّسة شكل من أشكال التعبير الرمزي عن المغامرة الوجودية للإنسان التي أسّس بها وعيه بذاته وبالعالم، فـ"كل مجتمع بشري هو مشروع بناء للعالم، ويحتل الدين مكاناً متميزاً في هذا المشروع"، ذلك أن جوهر النصوص المقدسة والتجارب الدينية ماثل في ما تؤديه من وظائف تاريخية ووجودية، فهي تؤسس رؤاها انطلاقاً من المؤثرات الثقافية والعقائدية الحافة بها، ذلك أن الأحداث المتخيلة تعبير عن أحلام تاقت جماعة المؤمنين إلى معانقتها، ففي عوالم المُتخيّل تُحلق نفوسهم في فضاءات لا تحصى ولا تُعد، وتطوف أماكن قصية وتتخطى أزمنة عودة إلى زمن البدايات.
فالمُتخيّل ظاهرة إنسانية يسعى من خلالها الإنسان )الفرد/الجماعة( إلى بناء المعنى وتحليل العالم والانغماس فيه وفق تصوّر مخصوص مداره الذات، وبهذا المعنى يكون بحثنا حفراً في الكيان البشري المسكون بالهواجس والباحث عن معنى لوجوده ولعلاقاته بالعالم والآخر.
