يضم الكتاب خمسة فصول، يتناول الفصل الأول منها: المستشفيات ومكتباتها ومكتبات مستشفى 57357، ويتناول الفصل الثانى: العلاج بالقراءة من: نشاة، تطور، معوقات وممارسة، أما الفصل الثالث فيتاول: الأنواع المختلفة لسرطان الأطفال والإضطرابات النفسية الناجمة عنها، بينما يتناول الفصل الرابع: التطبيق العملى للعلاج بالقراءة المتبع مع الأطفال المرضى والمقيمين بالمستشفى للعلاج، أما الفصل الخامس والأخير فيتناول نتائج هذه الدراسة على الأطفال المرضى من خلال ستة محاور، مع بعض التوصيات فى سبيل تطوير ونجاح العلاج بالقراءة كأسلوب مواز ومعترف به لى الدول الأوربية وامريكا منذ ام 1930.
