"إنه الأربعاء... مؤخراً صرت اهتم أكثر بالتوقف عند أسماء الأيام وتواريخها... أصبحت اهتم بتلك التفاصيل الصغيرة التي تحيط بحياتي، أحاول أن أرسم بمخيلتي أشياء لم تحدث لي، أعود لأتذكرها بعد حسين فتصبح كأنها ذكرى قد مرّت فعلاً في حياتي! كأنني بهذا أصنع ماضي غير الذي عشته.
أقف مطولاً أمام المرآة، يظهر امامي وجه طفولتي الحزين، أتيقن أكثر من ذي قبل أن ثمة حزن لا يشبه بكاءه، كهذا الوجه الذي أخجل أن أتصدق عليه الآن بدمعة، أو أنني أدخرها للمشهد الأخير، يتبدّد حلم أمامي كلما احتلت شعرة بيضاء مساحة من وجه ذلك الطفل الحزين، انسكبت الأحلام كلها، لم يبقَ سوى ذاك الذي أجلس فيه إلى منضدة، يلبسني أبي زوج حذاء، يطلب مني تجربة السير به، ودون أن يأخذ شعوري بضيقه يشتريه: - سيتسع عما قريب.
يقولها ويمضي أمامي، وكأنه كلما سار خطوة يطوي عاماً من عمري... كبرت بخطواته.
اختفت طفولتي.... عندما سبقت أقدامه شفتي عن تقبيله، وربما أخرت بالوصول إلى الحياة فملّ انتظاري ورحل.
أوخز قلبي غيابه، فثمة جراح لا تشبه أوجاعها، كوجهي هذا، كصوتك ذاك المنهك الذي كشف عجزي أمامك وعجزك أمامي، أتفحصني فأجد بقايا سؤال عجزت عن قوله منذ 28 عاماً: -لماذا أنت يا أبي؟...
أنخر جدران دمشق بحثاً عن صوتك، سبق أن فعلت ذلك في منزلنا بالصليبية، يا ألله كم كنا عراة دون صوتك، أتمرد هناك، أتمرد هنا، أبحث عن كلمة تنهرني بها، كأنني كنت أتسوّل صوتك بمعاصيّ!".
