والمؤلف "كريستيان كوتس أولريخسن" هو باحث بمنحة من معهد جيمس .أ. بايكر الثالث للسياسات العامة وفي جامعة "رايس" كما تناول من خلال منحة بحثية مماثلة لدراسة شؤون الشرق الأوسط وشمال إفريقيا والعمل على الإلتزام بتطبيقات البرنامج العلمي المعتمد لدى مؤسسة "شاتام هاوس".
ويشهد المراقبون، للمؤلف، طول باعه بالإهتمام في شؤون الشرق الأوسط، ومتابعته الحثيثة لكل محطات تاريخ الشرق الأوسط الحديث والمعاصر.
