إن الإنسان إذا التزم بالأمانة بكل تعاملاته وبأدق التفصيلات وأبسطها وفي كل زمان ومكان، فإنه سيكون أهلاً لحمل هذه الأمانة التي كلّفه الله تعالى بها على أكمل وجه، وهذا ما تؤكده التنمية المستدامة وهو هدفها الرئيسي، فالإلتزام بالأمانة شرط لتطبيق التكليف الإلهي الذي هو إستخلاف الله تعالى الإنسان وإستمكانه الأرض والطبيعة.
أما في ما يخص لفظة الإنسان بحد ذاتها ففيها تعبير لغوي دقيق إذ أن كلمة إنسان لفظ خاص ببني آدم المفروض مخلوقين لعباده الله تعالى وهو لفظ أعم وأشمل من كلمة البشر التي تعني جميع المخلوقات العاقلة التي تسير على قدمين منذ أن خلق الله عزّ وجلّ الإنسان إذاً فالآية الكريمة ﴿وَحَمَلَهَا الْإِنْسَانُ﴾... تلتقي مع التنمية المستدامة في الجانب الإنساني، فالإلتزام بالتنمية المستدامة مرتبط إرتباطاً وثيقاً بعبادة الله (عزّ وجلّ).
يتضمن هذا الكتاب عدد من الفصول تناولنا بها في الفصل الأول التنمية المستدامة وأهدافها وأبعادها والتربية من أجل الإستدامة، وتناول الفصل الثاني: التدريب والبرامج التدريبية، أما الفصل الثالث فخصص للثقافة البيئية للأبناء المجتمع ووعيهم البيئي.
بينما استأثر الفصل الرابع بالبحث التجريبي الميداني بناء برنامج تدريبي وفقاً للتربية من أجل التنمية المستدامة لمدرسي علم الأحياء وأثره في ثقافتهم العلمية والوعي البيئي لطلبتهم.
