من دواعى نجاح هذا الجهد كون المؤلف شاعراً شعبياً, وهو على إطلاع كبير بكل جوانب التراث الشعبى والعربى, ومهتم بالحفظ والتجميع, مما سهل له عملية إختيار الأمثال الموظفة فى قصائد الشعراء الشعبين, وشرحها و التعليق عليها, كما أن الباحث إختار نماذج عدة لشعراء من مراحل زمنية متعددة, ينتمون لمدارس شعرية مختلفة, إن جاز أن نصنف شعرنا الشعبى وفق لمدارس شعرية بعينها, أو بإخضاعها لضوابط فنية محددة.
كما إعتقد الباحث فى منهجه البحثى على أن يختار مقاطع من قصائد الشعراء الذين إستشهد بتوظيفهم الأمثال فى أشعارهم ليطلع القارئ على أجواء االقصيدة و مضامينها و معانيها. كما أنه إنتهج إسلوباً سهلاً ميسراً عند الحديث عن المثل شرحاً وتعليقاً لإيضاح معانيه للمتلقين بجميع مستوياتهم التعليمية والثقافية, دون الجنوح إلى لغة معقرة متنطعة تفسد القصد من وضع الكتاب.
لكنه لم يشأ أن يكثر من ذكر الأمثال و شرحها لكى لا يخرج عن منهجية بحثه التى إعتمدها, تفادياً للإطالة- فالكتاب لا يهتم بالدرجة الأولى بحصر الأمثال الشعبية, وهى غزيرة كثيرة, وإنما مسعى المؤلف فيه كان منصباً حول توظيفها فى الشعر توظيفاً دقيقاً غير مخل بالمعنى, مغنٍ عن سيل كلمات أخرى, مع شرح مُوجز لفحوى المثل, وتبيان قيمته الفنية موظفاً فى البيت الشعرى أو القصيدة, وقد سار على هذا النسق على إمتداد بحثه الذى لا أظن أن له نهاية أو خاتمة, فهذا مجال واسع متسع لا يتوقف عند حد, ففى كل نبضة ينتج لنا الشعراء قصائد جديدة يرصعونها بأمثال وحكم مأثورةٍ إعتباراً أو إختصاراً, فالشاعر ابن الحياة, والحياة لا تتوقف إلا بالموت, والشعوب الحية بقيت أشعارها وفنونها حية بعناية أبنائها, وإهتمام أهلها بها.
إجمالاً, يعد هذا الكتاب إضافة مهمةً للمكتبة التراثية الليبية لأهمية مادته وجدتها وجودتها, وتنوع لنماذج المعروضة به, مؤملاً أن ينحو الباحث هذا النحو الموفق فى تتبع توظيف أمثالنا الشعبية فى إشعار الشعراء الليبين, وهى كثيرة لا حصر لها, وتحقيقاً للمقاصد المهمة التى أومأنا إليها.
