يحتل أبو البركات البغدادي، مكانة هامة في تاريخ فلسفتنا العربية، فهو يتمتع بحس نقدي أصيل، قل أن نجد له نظيرا عند غيره من فلاسفة الإسلام.
لقد استطاع أبو البركات أن يقف على مختلف التيارات والاتجاهات الفكرية في عصره، ويتضح ذلك بأجلى بيان من خلال سفره "المعتبر في الحكمة"، فقبل أن يقدم لنا أبو البركات مشروعه الفلسفي وموقفه النقدي من التيارات والاتجاهات في عصره، لم يترك شاردة ولا واردة إلا وحاول أن يتأمل فيها ويعتبرها.
ولقد قسمت رسالتي غلى خمسة أبواب ومقدمة وخاتمة، عرضت في الباب الأول لحياة أبي البركات والظروف والملابسات التى أحاطت واقعة إسلامه، كما تطرقت إلى مكنهج أبي البركات في البحث، والقواعد العقلية التي حاول أن يرسى دعائمها، ثم انتهيت في هذا الباب بعرض لأهمية البحث في العلم الإلهي عند أبي البركات، حيث إنه يعتقد أن الميتافيزيقا أو الإلهيات هي الغاية الأسمى أو غاية الغايات، وفي الباب الثاني، عرضت لمشكلة الألةهية، والبراهين المختلفة على وجود الله عند ابن سينا.
وفي الباب الرابع، وقفنا على ثلاث قضايا، الأولى موقف أبي البركات من إشكالية الزمان عند ابن سينا وأوضحت الاجتهادات التي ذهب إليها ابن ملكا في هذا الصدد، والثانية، هي مشكلة قدم العالم وحدوثه،روالثالثة: موقف أبي البركات من مشكلة العلم الإلهي في فلسفة ابن سينا، وفي الباب الخامس والأخير، عرضت لموقف أبي البركات من نظرية النفس عند ابن سينا.
وبعد.. فهذا هو بحثي المتواضع، الذي حاولت فيه أن أسبر غور الحقيقة في فكر فليسوفنا هبة الله بن ملكا، وهي محاولة متواضعة على درب البحث عن الحقيقة.
