ومعظم الأمراض التي تصيب هذه العائلة هي نتيجة مشاكل في التربية والتغذية أكثر منها وبائية، والمعلومات التي يقدمها هذا الكتاب موجهة أساساً للمربين والمهتمين بإقتناء الصقور وطلبة كليات الطب البيطري والأطباء البيطريين المعنيين بسلامة وصحة وعلاج الصقور لتكون مرجعاً علمياً وتطبيقياً في أمراض الصقور (أنواع الأمراض المختلفة، الأعراض، طرق التشخيص، العلاجات والوقاية والتحصينات المطلوبة)؛ وكذلك وصف للحالات الحرجة التي تتعرض لها الصقور أثناء التربية والتدريب والقنص وأساليب الرعاية الصحية والإسعافات الأولية اللازمة لكي تتيح للمربي الفرصة التدخل الفوري لإسعاف الصقور حتى لا تتفاقم المشكلة، وتجنباً لإرهاق وإجهاد الصقور وحماية لحياتها، وينبغي على المربين الإحتفاظ بصندوق الإسعافات الأولية وسوف نذكر محتوياتها والطرق الصحية والسليمة لإستخدامها.
وفي سرده لأمراض الصقور والمدعمة بالصور تتطرق المؤلف إلى تاريخ لبعض أنواع الصقور الهامة في المنطقة العربية والتي يكثر إستخدامها في الصيد والقنص.
كذلك فإنّ الكتاب مدعم ببعض المفاهيم والتعاريف المتداولة في تربية وعلاج الصقور مع ملاحق عن نموذج الفحص الإكلينيكي للصقور وطرق التشخيص وأنواع العيّنات المطلوبة وطرق الحصول عليها وأنواع الفحوص المختبرية اللازمة والقيم المرجعية الطبية لمكونات الدم والمصل، مع وصف العلاجات المناسبة والمستخدمة لعلاج الصقور والجرعات الدوائية المقررة وطرق إعطائها ووسائل تخدير الصقور قبل إجراء العمليات الجراحية المختلفة.
