وبالرغم أن معظم الأمراض التي تصيب هذه العائلة ترجع إلى مشاكل في التربية والتغذية أكثر منها وبائية، والمعلومات التي تقدم في هذا الكتاب موجهة أساساً للمربين والمهتمين بإقتناء الببغاء وطلبة كليات الطب البيطري والأطباء البيطريين المعنيين بسلامة وصحة وعلاج طيور الببغاء لتكون مرجعاً علمياً وتطبيقياً في طرق التربية المختلفة وفي التعرّف على أمراض الببغاء (أنواع الأمراض المختلفة، الأعراض، طرق التشخيص، العلاجات والوقاية والتحصينات المطلوبة).
