يعتبر هذا الكتاب الذي بين يدي القارئ فريداً في موضوعه، وإثراءاً للمكتبة العربية، لا سيما في موضوع العمارة المدنية التي تندر فيها المراجع.
إذ نجد في صفحات هذا الكتاب تفصيلاً عن "البيت التركي"، حيث قام الباحث بدراسة عملية للبيوت الباقية في عدد من مدن تركيا الشهيرة، مثل استانبول، وبورصة، وأدرنة، وقونية، وإنطاليا، وأنقرة، وجانقري، واسكيشهر، وأفيون، وسيواس، وقام بتصوير هذه البيوت بنفسه أثناء دراسته في قسم الهندسة المعمارية بجامعة يلديز التقنية باستانبول، بين عامي 1989- 1994م.
ثم قام الباحث بدراسة مقارنة بين عمارة البيتين التركي والعربي، فتوصل إلى نتيجة مؤداها أن عمارة البيوت في أغلب البلاد العربية تتشابه في تخطيطها وشكلها، ولا سيما في العصر العثماني، فقد كانت هذه البلاد ضمن إطار الدولة العثمانية، فتأثرت بالبيوت المشيدة في الأناضول، فالبيوت المشيدة في العراق ومصر وسوريا ولبنان، وغيرها مثلاً لا تختلف إختلافاً جوهرياً فيما بينها من حيث الشكل والتخطيط، إنما يظهر الإختلاف في الموارد الإنشائية المستخدمة في كل منها، وهو الإختلاف الذي يكشف عن نفسه في البيوت المبنية حتى في الدولة الواحدة، إذ يعتمد ذلك على ما يتوفر من المواد في المنطقة، وعلى الطبيعة الجغرافية لها.
ولذلك، قام الباحث في هذه الدراسة المقارنة بالتركيز على بيوت حلب المهمة التي تعتبر نموذجاً للبيت العربي، فاختار أهم البيوت الباقية من العصر العثماني، مثل بيوت إجقباش، وبليط، وباسيل...
ومن هذه الدراسة وصل الباحث إلى نتيجة هامة تقول: إن بيت العربي في سوريا خلال العصر العثماني كان إمتداداً لحضارات عديدة، آخرها الحضارة العباسية، وهو رغم أصالته منذ القدم، إلا أنه لم ينأ عن التأثيرات العثمانية، كما هو الحال في فروع الفن الأخرى.
