قبل ثلاث سنوات ونصف السنة في 6 جمادى الأولى 1433هـ / 29 مارس 2012م، بدأ نادي القصة السعودي نشاطه في العالم الإفتراضي، عبر بوابة الفيسبوك، وتكونت خلال هذه المدة الوجيزة علاقات وتواصل مع معظم الدول العربية، حتى وصل عدد الأصدقاء إلى 966 متابعاً، بخلاف الآلاف الذين يتابعون النادي من روابط أخرى، ويصل عدد الكتّاب منهم إلى النصف، أما النصوص المنشورة فقد تجاوزت الألف نص قصصي، وغيرها من عروض الكتب القصصية، والنقدية.
من هذا السجل المبهج تكونت مادة ضخمة وكبيرة ومميزة، وجاءت الأصوات تطالب بالإستفادة من هذه العائلة القصصية الكبيرة، وتؤيد إصدار النصوص القصصية في كتاب شامل، وبما أن فرصة إصدار الكتاب جاءت من نادي تبوك الأدبي، فليكن هذا الجزء الأول متضمّناً اثنين وعشرين كاتباً للقصة القصيرة من تسع دول عربية، وسيتلوه الجزء الثاني متنوعاً ومتعدد الدول، لكي يكون سلسلة عربية في القصة القصيرة الحديثة.
