بالنظر لقلة المصادر العلمية في المكتبة العربية في مجال فيزياء الجسيمات الأولية والإشعاع الكوني، فلقد دأبنا على تأليف هذا الكتاب ليغطي جزءاً يسيراً من هذا النقص، وليغطي أيضاً جزء من ما يحتاجه الطالب في المرحلة الرابعة في كليات التربية والعلوم في موضوع الجسيمات الأولية والإشعاع الكوني وكذلك طلبة الدراسات العليا.
وقد حرصنا عند تأليفه أن يكون قريباً من ذهن الطالب ويتميز بالسلاسة خالي من التعقيدات العلمية والرياضية.
لقد تضمن هذا الكتاب خمسة فصول، حيث عرضنا وبالتفصيل الجسيمات الأولية وخصائصها والجسيمة المضادة وكذلك أنواع التفاعلات الأربعة.
وتطرق الفصل الثاني إلى قوانين الحفظ للجسيمات الأولية وبالتفصيل أما الفصل الثالث فقد اشتمل على شرح وافي ومفصل للكواركات وخصائصها ونظرية الكوارك كذلك التطرق إلى مخططات فاينمن والنظرة للتفاعلات ونظرية TCP وتأثيراتها في التفاعلات، أما الفصل الأخير فتم التطرق إلى الإشعاع الكوني وإكتشافه وأصل هذا الإشاع وتأثير خطوط الطول والعرض على الأشعة الكونية وكذلك تأثير المجال المغناطيسي الأرضي.
