هذه كوكبة من شخصيات عرفتها في حياتي، وتيار من رحيق الحياة. إنهم يمثلون مجموعة مختلفة من تخصصات متباينة ومهن متعددة ومشارب شتى، ما بين العلم والأدب والفن والسياسة والعسكرية والدين، إنه خليط من مصريين وعرب وأجانب، وسبيكة نعتز بها مهما اختلف تقديرنا لبعضها أو انتقادنا لبعضها الآخر، فمنهم من عبر الحياة فيما مضى، ومنهم من واصل المسيرة وقد توثقت علاقته بنا أو ازداد قربنا منه.
لقد حاولت في هذه الصفحات أن أكون وفيًّا قدر المستطاع للأجيال الحالية والقادمة في أن يعرفوا كم كان لهذه الشخصيات من عطاء وبذل وإخلاص وبصمة في حياتهم وحياة الآخرين وحياة أوطانهم، فكان حقها عليهم أن يعرفوها ويقرأوا عنها ويقتدوا بها في مسارات حياتهم، وبذلك تكتمل دائرة مسارات الحياة بين سابق يؤثر ولاحق يستلهم ، فيحاول أن يكون له تأثير، مثلما فعل السابقون، بل وأن يتفوق عليهم.. فتمضي الأوطان قدمًا إلى الأمام، دون تقهقر أو نكوص، وهذا ما نتمناه لمصـرنا الغالية، التي يسكن حبها في قلوبنا خالدًا متفردًا لا يعدله ولا يزاحمه حب آخر.
