عبد الغني بن إسماعيل بن عبد الغني النابلسي الدمشقي الحنفي (1050 هـ - 1143 هـ / 1641 - 1731م) شاعر شامي وعالم بالدين والأدب ورحالة مكثر من التصنيف. ولد ونشأ وتصوف في دمشق. قضى سبع سنوات من عمره في دراسة كتابات "التجارب الروحيّة" لِفُقهاء الصوفية. وقد تعدّدت رحلاته عبر العالم الإسلامي، إلى إسطنبول ولبنان والقدس وفلسطين ومصر والجزيرة العربية وطرابلس وباقي البلاد السورية. استقر في مدينته دمشق وتوفي فيها.

إن من أجل العلوم وأنفعها، وأدقّ المعارف وأرفعها علم التعبير، وكيف لا وقد قال به البشير النذير، ومن بعده أبو بكر الصديق رضي الله عنه أوّل أحسن تأويل وعبر أدقّ تعبير، ومن بعدهما أكثر الصحابة رضي الله عنهم، وتبعهم في ذلك سائر الأئمة من هذه الأمة.
وحيث كان علم التعبير من الدِّقة بمكان، ومن الرِّفعة بحيث لا يدركه كل إنسان، سوى من سما بعقله إلى سماء التفكير والتدبير، ورزق من الفطنة والذكاء بحيث يدرك بعين الناقد البصير، فبينما يرى المرء رؤيا تضطرب لها حواسه، وتهتز لها فرائصه، وتحبس لها أنفاسه، فإذا هي خير له، وكبتٌ لأعدائه، وبينما يرى رؤيا يفرح بها ويرقص طرباً فإذا هي خذلان وحرمان له، ولا تدرك هذه الفوائد الجمة إلا بمعرفة هذا الفن النفيس.
وقد جاء إنتقاء الدار لهذا الكتاب القيِّم نتيجة لدراسة طويلة فالكتاب مجموعة ثلاثة كتب ألفها أئمة مشهورون، واعتمدوا فيها على الكتاب والسنة إعتماداً واضحاً وجلياً، وهذه الكتب: تعبير الأنام في تعبير المنام للشيخ عبد الغني النابلسي ويليه تفسير الأحلام الكبير للإمام محمد بن سيرين ويليه الإشارات في علم العبارات لخليل بن شاهين الظاهري، ويكفي ذكر أسماء هؤلاء السادة الكرام ليعرف القارئ الكريم قيمة هذه الكتب.
