اهتم العلماء والمتخصصون بدراسة وتحليل مشكلة الإدمان من عدة أبعاد لأنها تعتبر مشكلة طبية، سلوكية، اجتماعية، قانونية، تربوية، ولأهمية المشكلة فقد صدرت عن هيئة الصحة العالمية في آخر مارس 1988 وثيقة هامة تنادي بضرورة وضع سياسات وبرامج قومية خاصة بالمواد المسببة للإدمان.
وتأتي هذه الدراسة في سلسلة الاهتمامات بأبعاد ظاهرة الإدمان وتهتم بآراء واتجاهات الطلاب نحو تعاطي المخدرات، كما تهتم بدور المدرسة لوقاية الطلاب من تعاطي المخدرات.
والدراسة تطبق المنهج الوصفي التحليلي وأدواته استبيان للتعرف على آراء واتجاهات الطلاب إزاء تعاطي المخدرات ويسير وفق الخطة التالية: التعرف على الإطار النظري للدراسة، مراجعة الدراسات السابقة، إعداد أدوات البحث، اختيار عينات البحث، تطبيق أدوات البحث، تحليل البيانات والتوصل إلى النتائج وتفسيرها، توصيات البحث، تحديد دور المدرسة في وقاية الطلبة من التعاطي/ الإدمان.
