إن النظام العالمي الجديد وما يدعو إليه من تذويب الحدود الإقليمية، وكسر سيطرة قوى الأسواق المالية وإلزام الحكومات باتباع سياسات معينة، تتدخل بشكل صريح في شؤون الدولة، وتزيل العامل الوطني من مكانته الاستراتيجية المركزية، وتبخر المفهوم التقليدي للحدود الوطنية، مما يفضي إلى الانحسار في مفهوم السيادة القومية، وبالتالي الإعلان عن نهاية الدولة. أن المتحمسين لنظام السوق الحرة وللعولمة الاقتصادية دون تبصر، إنما يعرضون بلادهم إلى تقلبات السوق الفجائية الملازمة للرأسمالية الحديثة، ويسوقون بلادهم بالتالي إلى كوارث اجتماعية واقتصادية مدمرة.
ومع ذلك يبقى مفهوم العولمة متداخلًا.
ولكن السؤال الذي سيطرح نفسه علينا هل كان للعولمة دور في ثورات الدول العربية؟
تعد الانترنت وما تتضمنه من مواقع مثل الفيس بوك والتويتر أحد الوسائل التي استخدمت في تنظيم الثورات والتواصل بين القائمين بها بل والتواصل بين الشعوب الأخرى ودعوتها للثورة على الظلم، لذا كان لا بد من معرفة ماهية العولمة والانفتاح الاقتصادي العالمي ومستقبلهما في ظل ثورات الدول العربية.
