إن كتاب "المستدرك على الصحيحين" للإمام الحافظ أبي عبد الله محمد بن عبد الله الحاكم النيسابوري يعتبر من مصادر السنة النبوية المهمة التي حوت قدراً كبيراً من الحديث الصحيح. فقد أودع فيه صاحبه من الأحاديث الصحيحة ما ليس عن الشيخين البخاري ومسلم ما رآه على شرطيها-وهو أعلى درجات الصحيح-أو على شرط البخاري وحده، على شرك مسلم وحده، وما أداه اجتهاده إلى تصحيحه وإن لم يكن على شرط واحد منها.
ونظراً لهذه المكانة الرفيعة التي يحتلها الكتاب، اعتنى به المحقق حمدي حمد حيث عمل على مطابقته على عدة نسخ موجودة، وإعادة ترقيمه، وتخريج ألأحاديثه.
