من المكابرة إنكار أن هناك نصوص دينية يستند إليها المتطرفون في ممارسة العنف، مهما قيل إن هذه النصوص ضعيفة سندا، وحمالة أوجه، وذات دلالات متشابهة ومجملة وقد تكون منسوخة أو مخصوصة بأمر يقترن بظرف محدد، ولا يمكن تعميمها. ليس من الإنصاف تقييم دين أو مذهب أو حضارة أو أي تراث في ضوء نصوص مستقطعة من سياقاتها الموضوعية فعندها لن يسلم تراث من وجود هذه الآراء الشاذة المستنكرة عند أعاظم العلماء والمفكرين. ومن هنا فإن علماء المسلمين مدعوون إلى تشخيص هذه النصوص المتطرفة ومعالجتها بشجاعة كبيرة، ومناقشتها بطرق علمية من أجل مواجهة التطرف. وهذا البحث محاولة في تناول بعض النصوص التي تضج دلالاتها بتكفير الآخر المختلفة، والتحريض ضده، ومن ثم مناقشتها، والتعرض لآراء جمهور العلماء فيها، ووضعها في سياقاتها الأصلية.
