إن أخطر شيء في الدين العقيدة؛ لأنّها إن صحّت صحّ العمل، والإيمان بالله تعالى له موضع الصدارة في العقيدة، ولعلّ من أبرز موضوعاته شرح اسماء الله الحسنى وصفاته الفضلى.
ولقد رغبتُ ان يكون هذا الشّرح معتمداً على ما في الكتاب والسَنّة أولاً، وعلى آيات الله في الآفاق وفي النفس الإنسانية ثانياً، وعلى أفعال الله تعالى الدّالة على وجوده ووحدانيّته وكماله ثالثاً، بحيث تغدو آيات الله تعالى القرآنية والكونية والتكوينية - التي هي مظهر لأسمائه الحسنى وصفاته الفضلى - مصدراً أساسياً لهذا الشرح، ولا أدري مبلغ ما وُفِّقت إليه من التعريف بالله ربَ العالمين من خلال هذه الطريقة، ولكنّ الذي أدريه أنَني ما أدّخرت وُسعاً في تقريب هذه الأسماء والصفات والأفعال الإلهية من عقول الناس وقلوبهم، فلعلّها تكون سبباً في معرفة الله عزّ وجلّ المعرفة الحقّة، التي تُنجي من شقاء الدنيا وعذاب الآخرة، وتُسعد الإنسان في دنياه وأخراه.
