يقول المؤلف في عودة إلى سورة المائدة: " ... سورة الولاية وسورة الوداع والغدير في ختمها وفتحها، في تاريخها وتاريخيتها، هي سورة الولاية في صريح عباراتها وصياغاتها، وفي أعدادها وأرقامها وإحصاءاتها، وفي إشاراتها ولطائفها، وفي أعماقها وحقائقها، هي سورة الولاية في نداءاتها ووداعها ووصاياها وتبليغاتها وآياتها ...".
يغلب على الكتاب المقاربات الفكرية والدراسات القرآنية مع الإستفادة من الرواية والنقل في السياق التاريخي والعقائدي، وقراءة ما ورد في كتب تناولت الولاية والحكم في الإسلام وحاكمية الله، وما صدر فيها من أحكام وتنازعت في قبولها واختلفت وتفرقت.
