هذا الكتاب " رسالة في الإمامة العظمى " و ( في أحكام البيعة والتحذير من الخروج ) للشيخ الإمام محمد بن أحمد مَيّارة الفاسي المالكي المتوفى سنة ( 1072ه ) ، عمل على تحقيقها المستشار أ. د. عبد الرحيم القلمي . قدم لها بمقدمة عن المرحلة التاريخية التي ظهر خلالها هذا النوع من الكتابات " الإضطرابات والتحولات السياسية في المغرب الأقصى - قابلها " حركة علمية قوية احتضنتها المراكز العلمية بالحواضر الكبرى " . ولأن الحركة العلمية المشار إليها لم تكن بمعزل عن تلكم التحولات والإضطرابات السياسية ، بدأت العديد من الكتابات ذات الصلة بمفهوم " الإمامة العظمى " كما يشير إلى ذلك محقق الكتاب ، حيث بدأت الكتابة في طبيعة العلاقة بين السلطتين الشرعية الدينية والسياسية الزمنية ، وأصول البيعة وشروطها ، ومقاصدها الشرعية ، وما إلى ذلك ، وأشهرها : رسالة الأجوبة الحسان في الخليفة والسلطان ، التي اشتهرت بين الناس بإسم : " رسالة الإمامة العظمى ، للإمام أبي محمد أبي القادر الفاسي وهو أيضاً السياق الذي ألفت فيه رسالة الإمامة التي نحن بصددها - موضوع هذا الكتاب - باعتبارها رسالة في بيان مفاسد الخروج على ولي الأمر ، والأحكام الفقهية والإعتقادية المتعلقة به ، وأدلة الوجوب في توحيد الأمة وجمع الكلمة .
هذا ، وقد ألحق بالكتاب نصين : أولهما نص باب الإمامة الوارد في فتح العليم الخلاق ، وثانيهما نص فتوى المؤلف ضمن فتاوى علماء فاس بشأن فتنة الحيانية ، وعرض للنسخة الأصلية ( المخطوطة ) من الرسالة ونص الرسالة .
