The following work consists of the significant aspects and recommendations drawn from four large scale surveys undertaken by Movimondo in 2004 within the context of the project ECHO/TPS/210/2003/0820, and subsequently completed by Movimondo under its own initiative. The project began in June, 2004 and was completed in February 2005. The total sum of the project research resulted in four thorough surveys covering most aspects of the socio-economic, educational, health, and family life of residents of the camp. The titles of the four complete surveys are: 1. The Economic and Social Conditions of the Families in the Palestinian Refugee Camp Nahr el Bared (North Lebanon).
Among other detailed parameters in this study was included a total population headcount of the camp.
2. The Educational System in the Palestinian Refugee Camp Nahr el Bared (North Lebanon).
3. A Quantitative Assessment of the PHC System in the Palestinian Refugee Camp Nahr el Bared (North Lebanon).
4. Perspectives of Palestinian NGOs Operating within the Palestinian Refugee Camp Nahr el Bared (North + Lebanon).
These four reports, in light of their mandate contain thorough textual descriptions and minute statistical, graphic and visual aid illustrations of almost conceivable parameters occurring within the camp under the four rubriques listed above. For our present purpose, however, this report serves as a digest of the most significant features of each sector of the original project along with the graphs and tables appropriate to demonstrating them. In addition, it contains all the observations made by the analyst experts employed on the study as well as their distinct recommendations. In the end, we hope that the reader comes away from this report with a vivid concept of the lives and living conditions of the residents of Nahr el Bared Camp, and with an open view as to the possibility and extent of ameliorating those conditions which render the existence of the various numbers of the inhabitants uncomfortable at best, and otherwise undignified, vulnerable and marginalized at worst.
