تتناول رواية «الشقة في شارع باسي»، التي حرر لها النص الكاتب باسم عبد الحليم من مصر، وصمم غلافها الشاعر زهير أبو شايب، حكاية صديقين: أمير وجميل عبر عشرات السنوات، وضمن سياقات تاريخية وثقافية صاخبة. بين عامي 2001 و2019 تاريخ كامل تغير فيه مفهوم اللجوء، وأصبحت العلاقة بين شرق المتوسط وأوروبا أكثر تعقيدا وشحنا، جميل وأمير يهاجران إلى باريس في عام 2001 بعد نشوب الانتفاضة الثانية وأحداث أكتوبر/تشرين الأول 2000 في الجليل، طمعا بحياة أفضل يمكنها استيعاب اختلافهما، أو بالأحرى البحث عن شركاء من أصحاب النفوذ والمال والشقق كاملة الملكية في الأحياء المرفهة، المليئة بالغنج في العاصمة الفرنسية.
لكن تحقيق حلم الإقامة هناك وبشروط مريحة، يتحول لسباق على اقتناص فرصة واحدة لا غير، تظهر مرة واحدة مع ظهور أعراض مرض الإيدز على أحدهما، وعلى أحدهما أيضا سرقتها من الآخر، بدون رحمة كي لا تضيع على الاثنين معا، فالأقربون أولى بالمعروف. يفترق الصديقان بعد أقل من عام من وصولهما، ثم يلتقيان بالصدفة بعد ذلك بـ 18عامًا.
وقد جاء في كلمة المحرر على غلاف الرواية: «متنقلًا بين الأماكن والأزمنة، يتتبع راجي بطحيش في روايته «الشقة في شارع پاسي» رحلة بطليه جميل وأمير لاكتشاف نفسيْهما وهويَّتيْهما ومكانيْهما في العالم. وعبر سرد حيوي، مُفعم بروح ميلودرامية لا تخلو من تأمُّلٍ ساخر لشخصياته، يرسم بطحيش مسارات بطليه من الوطن فلسطين، أو «البلاد» كما يُسمِّيها، وحتى شوارع وممرات العاصمة الفرنسية باريس؛ باريس أخرى قاسية، غير تلك المضمَّخة بالعطور والمزدانة بالحُلي والأزياء الفاخرة، من البداية الحالمة في زمن الطفولة، وحتى النهاية المفجعة في نهاية الطريق».
