يتصور بعض العلماء أن الله جعل لأنبيائه ورسله ولاية تكوينية، يتصرفون من خلالها بالكون، فيغيّرون الأشياء وينقلونها من حال الى حال، ويجمّدون الأسباب ويصنعون أسباباً جديدة للأشياء، بإذن الله، من خلال ما أعطاهم الله من السلطة على الكون في حركة التكوين، كما أعطاهم السلطة الشرعية في إدارة شؤون الناس وحكمهم وبث قوانين الشريعة بينهم وهدايتهم الى دينه.
وقد أخذت نظرية "الولاية التكوينية" بعداً عقائدياً حاسماً متنوعاً، فتاة تضيّق المسألة لتبقى في دائرة المعجزة، وأخرى توسعها لتشمل كل الكون، حتى إن البعض يرى أن الله فوّض للأنبياء وللأئمة (عليهم السلام) أمر التصرف في الكون في حركته الخفية والظاهرة، بحيث إنهم يملكون القدرة على تغيير ما يريدونه في الكون وفي الإنسان، من دون أية قدرة ذاتية مستقلة؛ بل من خلال القدرة التي مكّنهم الله منها وأعطاهم إياها.
وفيما يلي، بحث السيد محمد حسين فضل الله نظرية الولاية التكوينية ضمن النفاط الآتية: أولاً: في مفهوم الولاية التكوينية - ثانياً: موقعها في المعتقد الإسلامي - ثالثا: في إمكان الولاية التكوينية عقلاً ووجه الحاجة اليها. رابعاً: الجانب الاستدلالي، حيث إستعرض بعض الأدلة الأساسية على ثبوت الولاية التكوينية، وعمد الى مناقشتها للوصول الى النتيجة التي تنسجم مع الأدلة في هذا المجال.
