اشتملت هذه الموسوعة علي ما أمكن الوصول إليهمن القصص ودراستها دراسة هدفت إلي التعريف بالقصة أو الرواية أو المجموعة أو السلسلة القصصية، حيث ضم بعض الأعمال عدداً من القصص وجعل في دراسة واحدة. وهو تعريف يعنى بإبراز الفكرة والمضمون، ثم تقويم الشكل الفني بإيجاز غير مخل، وكان الحرص منصباً علي طبيعة العمل، لا علي شخصية الكاتب، لأن مدار عملنا قد تحدد في أمرين، الأول: فكري تربوي؛ فلا تتعارض القصة مع التصور الإسلامي، والآخر: فنى؛ بحيث تستوفي فيه القصة كثيراً من الشروط الفنية لهذا اللون.
ومجمل هذه الأعمال- كما سيرى القارئ- إما مستمد من القرآن الكريم، أو الحديث الشريف، أو السيرة النبوية، أو التاريخ القريب أو البعيد، أو من التراث، وإما مستمد من الواقع الفكري والإجتماعي والسياسي، أو من التجارب الإنسانية التي تلتقي مع مفاهيم الإسلام في منطقة ما، ولا تتعارض معها.
وأستطيع أن أقول: إني قمت بمسح شامل لمعظم الأعمال القصصية الإسلامية المعاصرة، ولعلنا نوفق في المستقبل بالحصول علي مالم تصل إليه اليد، أو ما سيطبع من أعمال في قابل الايام.
وأما الطريقة التي نفذ فيه هذا العمل فتقوم علي قراءة القصة أولاً للتأكد من موافقتها للنهج الذي اخترناه، ثم يتم تلخيصها في عدد من الصفحات، ثم يثنى عليها بتكثيف ما فيها من أفكار وأحداث، واختصار لا يؤثر في فكرتها الأساسية، ثم تأتي مرحلة التنقيح والتبيض وتوضيح طريقة العرض التي استخدمها الكاتب ومستوى أسلوبه، ومستوى القراء الذين تناسبهم، مستعينين في بعضها بما كتبه الآخرون عنها، وإبراز وجهة نظرهم حيالهم، هذا، وسيجد القارئ عدداً من الفهارس ملحقة بآخر الموسوعة تحت اسم الفهارس الفنية.
