يقدم هذا الكتاب باللغة العربية منهجاً هاماً وجاداً هو النظرية الكهرومغناطيسية وهو من مناهج علم الفيزياء الذي يوضح مساهمة الكثير من العلماء في بناء الفكر الإنساني ولقد اكتشف العالم الفيزيائي الرياضي جيمس كلارك ماكسويل وجود الموجبات الكهرومغناطيسية وتحديد سرعتها في الفراغ وأنها تساوي سرعة الضوء وذلك قبل أن ينجح العالم هرتز في توليد هذه الموجات عملياً، وتعرّف العلماء على طبيعة الضوء كموجات من أكبرها تردداً إلى أصغرها تردداً مثل أشعة جاما والأشعة السينية والأشعة فوق البنفسجيه والضوء المنظور والأشعة تحت الحمراء وموجات الراديو... وغيرها.
والكتاب يعتبر الأساس لدراسة موضوعات متقدمة أخرى تتضمن بوجه عام تفاعل الإشعاعات الكهرومغناطيسية مع المادة.
ويتميز الكتاب بالتدرج المنطقي وتوضيح المعنى الفيزيائي لمصطلحاته وبعض حدود معادلاته وإعطاء الأساس الرياضي لبعض أجزائه واللازمة لتناولها مما ييسر على القارئ متابعتها وفهمها وإستيعابها.
