قد يختلف القارئ المتخصص مع فدوى مالطى دوجلاس فى تفسيرها لهذا العمل الأدبى أو تلك الظاهرة الأدبية، ولكنه لن يختلف معها فى جدوى قراءة النصوص الأدبية العربية من منظور النقد المعاصر فى تعدد مناهجه وثراء تقنياته، ولن يختلف هذا القارئ حول الكثير من الأضواء التأويلية الكاشفة التى سلطتها فدوى على نصوص التراث النثرى القديم، فأنطقت ما كان مسكوتاً عنه نقدياً من قبل، وأدخلت فى دائرة الأدب بمعناه الخلاق ما لم يكن متنسباً إليه، ونقضت أسوار الهامشية التى كانت مفروضة على بعض النصوص النثرية فى علاقات التراتب الأدبى.
وأتصور أن القارئ العام سوف يستمتع بهذا الكتاب، مشاركاً القارئ المتخصص متعة التحليلات الثاقبة، والتأويلات الكاشفة، ووحدة المنظور النقدى المتجدد الذى لا يعرف التمييز بين التراث والمعاصر، والتقليد وما بعد الحداثة، فى معنى القيمة الأدبية التى تجاوز كل التصنيفات المذهبية الضيقة.
