أياً كانت الأسباب، فإن الزوجين أحدهما أو كلاهما يشعر بأن الانسحاب العاطفى، والبعد النفسى عن الآخر هو الحل، وهو أكثر راحة، صحيح أنهما يعيشان في مكان واحد، ولكن لا يجمعهما شيء سوى السقف، والجدران، تقل الحميمية بينهما، ويقل الحوار، وتسود روح العداء والكره بينهما، ويصلان لحرب قد تنتهى بالطلاق الفعلى أو لكوارث كثيرة كالخيانة، والانحرافات المختلفة. وتستمر حياتهما ظاهرياً أمام المجتمع وكلاهما في عالم منفصل تماماً.
