يشكل الفكر الجمالي العربي/ الإسلامي حلقة هامة ومتميزة من حلقات الفكر الجمالي الإنساني وذلك لموقعه التاريخي من جهة ولما اتصف به من عمق في طرح المسائل الجمالية من جهة أخرى فلم يكن المبحث الجمالي فيه ثانويًا أو من سقط المتاع, بل إن له مكانة هامة لا يمكن إغفالها أو تجاهلها. ويكفي أن نذكر أن هذا المبحث يرتبط بكل من مبحث الإلهيات والمحبة واللذة والحواس والقوى الإنسانية بحيث يصبح التوكيد أن صورة الفكر العربي/ الإسلامي لا تكتمل دون منظومته الجمالية. وعلى الرغم من ذلك, فقد بقى الاهتمام الحديث والمعاصر به قليلًا ونادرًا. وغالبًا ما يتم تناسيه. ولولا قلة قليلة من الأبحاث العلمية الجادة وهذا الكتاب من بينها لأمكن القول بأن هذا الفكر ما يزال يعاني من الإهمال.
