Book Description
يعد علم الأحجار الكريمة عالماً قائماً بذاته، وقد عرف الإنسان منذ القدم أهمية تلك الأحجار وتنبه لطبيعتها وخصائصها وأشكالها العجيبة والمثيرة، وخصص لها العديد من الكتب والمؤلفات على مر العصور، وذلك لما تتميز به من قيمة مادية ومعنوية وتاريخية كبيرة، وخصوصاً بين المهتمين يجمعها وإقتناءها والذين غالباً ما ينتمون لفئة الملوك والأمراء وأصحاب النفوذ من الأثرياء وكبار التجار.
ويعتبر كتاب أزهار الأفكار في جواهر الأحجار للعالم الجزائري (التيفاشي) أكثر دراسة مفصلة ومكتملة عن الأحجار وخصائصها في العصور الوسطى، ويعود تاريخ الأبحاث المختصة بالجواهر أو الدراسات المكرسة كلياً لمناقشة الأحجار الكريمة وخصائصها إلى علماء اليونان القدماء، وقد ذكر بليني في كتابه Naturalism Historian (التاريخ الطبيعي)، أن من بين أهم مصادر معرفته بالأحجار الكريمة هي الدراسات والكتب التي ألفها كل من جالينوس ودويسقوريدوس وبالينوس والكندي والفارابي عن الأحجار وهي تمثل المصادر الرئيسية للمادة محل المناقشة في كتابه المذكور.
وقد تناول التيفاشي دراسة 25 حجراً، وخصص فصلاً لكل منها، يبدأ كل فصل بمناقشة إتيمولوجية الحجر، ويتبعه وصف للعوامل التي تتسبب في تكوينه وموقع المناجم الرئيسية التي يتواجد بها وتحليل لخصائصه الفيزيائية الأساسية، بما في ذلك الصلابة.
يقدم الكاتب بعد ذلك قائمة بالإستخدامات الطبية والسحرية للحجر ويناقش قيمته وسعره بالسوق، أخذاً بعين الإعتبار الدرجات المختلفة للنقاء والخصائص البصرية للأحجار التي كانت متاحة للبيع في وقته، ولذا فيعد كتاب التيفاشي حول الأحجار الكريمة مرجعاً علمياً ومصدراً هاماً لكافة الباحثين والدارسين بمجال علم الأحجار الكريمة.
