يعتبر الأديب والشاعر الكوردي فرها دبيربال أحد أهم الرواد الملتزمين بالأدب والثقافة الكورديين، نلمس ذلك من خلال كتاباته التي تركز على مواضيع كوردية حساسة ولها العلاقة التاريخية والحياتية بالكورد الموجودين في جميع أنحاء العالم. وفي كتابه (آكلوا البطاطا) والذي يجمع بين دفتيه مجموعة هامة من القصائد والقصص المختارة، إستطاع الأديب بأسلوبه الفني الروائي المميز أن يلخص حقبة تاريخية كردية سياسية-إجتماعية-إقتصادية للأوضاع الخطرة التي يتعرض لها الشعب الكوردي في جميع العهود والسياسات التي رزح تحت وطأتها، بحيث أن قصة آكلوا البطاطا مثلت ببساطة طرحها وأسلوبها السردي حياة أولئك القرويين النقية والمغلقة على ذاتها في آن معاً. حيث يعود فريدون إلى قريته بعد ثلاثة عشر عاماً ليجد أن كل شيء على ما كان، وأن الهم المعيشي واحد لكل أبناء القرية، ولا يعرفون عن العالم الآخر ما لا يهمهم، حتى وإن كان ذهباً، يقول الأب مخاطباً إبنه: "عزيزي... كان عليك على الأقل أن تجلب لنا شيئاً من البطاطا. فأنت تعرف كيف هو وضعنا... ألم تكن عارفاً بأي حال نحن؟" كان ينظر إلى الذهب المبعثر في وسط الغرفة كأنه ينظر إلى جثة شخص حبيب! كأنه يسأل فريدون معاتباً: بني، ما الذهب؟ ومالفائدة منه؟ أما القسم الثاني من الكتاب فيحتوي على مجموعة شعرية تجسد هذا الشعور بالغربة والحنين إلى الوطن، تغشاه رومانسية داخل سيج ومعمار القصيدة ما يمنحها عنصر الفاعلية. فهو عندما يتحدث عن أمر أو فعل شعري بحد ذاته يضعه وسط سيناريو متتابع ينتظمه خيط سردي يضفي ذلك الأسلوب الطلق والعفوي على القصيدة. يقول في القصيدة "الأصفر الأكثر إخضراراً" بالقرب من كامبو سان لوركا/في بار الفالتو/صدفة إلتقيت ماركو بولو/أحتسينا قدح شراب أحمر/ وإستغرب كثيراً أن أربيل باقية حتى الآن. " آكلوا البطاطا " مجموعة هامة من القصص القصيرة التي تزيد عن إثني عشر قصة. أما المجموعة الشعرية فقسمها إلى ثلاثة أقسام وهي: 1-قصائد من ديوان " المنفى " ترجمة محيي الدين محمود، 2-قصائد أخرى، ترجمة نوزاد أحمد أسود، 3-من ديوان (بياضات الأسود وسواد البياض) ترجمة ترزه، وأخيراً غربة الذات وألفة النص: قراءة في مجموعة "منفى" للشاعر فرهاد بيربال/ بقلم أحمد المفتي.
