في هذه الدراسة تقترب الدكتورة "فايزة يخلف" من إشكاليات المنهج السيميائي في قضاياه المتشعبة، وتلامس مبهمات عديدة في هذا الحقل بهاجس أكاديمي يحاول تطوير البحث السيميائي العربي ومناهجه وأدواته.
وبالنظر إلى ما يطبع حقل السيمياء من مداخل بحثية متبانية، ارتأت المؤلفة تحديد الأساليب المنهجية التي اجتهدت في إستنطاق دلالات ومعاني الأنساق السيميائية عبر ثلاثة فصول: تناول الفصل الأول بعض المسوغات المعرفية الخاصة بالوضع الأبستيمولوجي للسيمياء، وبالإطار العام الذي يجعل من هذا الحقل المعرفي متعدد الفروع والميادين والمباحث، حيث أوضحت المؤلفة تباين السياقات وإختلاف المجالات التي تنضوي تحت لواء الدرس السيميائي هي بحلة استعصاء هذا الحقل المعرفي وسبب ضبابية الرؤية المنهجية التي يعتمدها.
وإستجلاء للحقائق أفردت المؤلفة الفصل الثاني لخصوصية التحليل السيميائي، المؤتلف والمختلف بينه وبين تحليل المحتوى الأمبريقي.
ولأن التحليل الدلالي النوعي هي نواة النهج السيميائي، خصص الفصل الثالث من هذه الدراسة لإجراءات الوقوف عند الوقائع النصية لأجل كشف وإستكشاف العلاقات الدلالية التي يخفيها التجلّي الظاهر لهذه الوقائع، من خلال طرح المؤلفة لجملة من النماذج والمقترحات المنهجية التي اجتهدت في تحليل أشكال الخطاب بدءاً من النص "الشعر، الرواية، الخطاب الإعلامي" مروراً بالأنساق البصرية (الصورة)، وإنتهاءً بتحليل الخطاب السينمائي.
ولما كان قانون الدلالة هذه الدلالة نفسها خُصصت "الإستخلاصات العامة" لإبراز كفاءة ونجاعة التحليل السيميائي في الأبحاث النقدية المعاصرة.
