يتضمّن هذا العمل تحقيقاً علميّاً لرسالة سليمان بن عبد القوي نجم الدين الطوفي الحنبلي (ت 716/ 1316) حلاّل العقد في بيان أحكام المعتقد (وتسمّى أيضاً قدوة المهتدين إلى مقاصد الدين) وهي رسالة في علم الكلام صنّفها الطوفي وهو في سجن رحبة باب العيد في القاهرة، وأتّمها ليلة 16 رجب سنة 711 للهجرة (1311م).
وقد اعتمد المؤلف في تحقيقه على مخطوطة فريدة تحتفظ بها المكتبة الوطنية ببرلين، والمخطوطة في مجموع يحتوي على رسائل أخرى للطوفي ولأحمد بن حنبل وابن تيمية وابن قيّم الجوزية، بالإضافة إلى مقاطع من كتاب إقتباس الأنوار من كمائم الأزهار لأبي القاسم بن إبراهيم بن عبد الشافي القرشي (وهو في الفقه الزيدي) ورسالة هزّ أعطاف العالم الحبر في نجاسة الخمر للفقه الأندلسي أبي القاسم بن محمّد بن عمر التميمي.
وقد اقتصر عملنا على تحقيق النصّ المخطوط وشرح غريبه وعزو الآيات والأحاديث والشعر إلى مصادرها، كما قمنا بوصف المخطوط باللغة الإنجليزية والتعريف بمحتويات الرسالة وعلاقتها بفكر نجم الدين الطوفي عموماً، أمّا الدراسة الدقيقة لمحتوى الرسالة في سياق فكر الطوفي خصوصاً وعلم الكلام عموماً فليست من أهداف هذا العمل، والله الموفق.
