تنبع أهمية موضوع دراستنا هذه من المكانة التي تتمتع بها، فعلى الصعيد النظري نجد أن التحليل الإقتصادي يولي عناية فائقة للسياسات الإقتصادية الكلية، وآراء الكثير من المدارس الإقتصادية وتباين وجهات نظرها في العديد من المسائل الإقتصادية وكيفية حل المشاكل والأزمات الإقتصادية.
أما على الصعيد التطبيقي، فتحقيق النمو وإستهداف التضخم من أهم الموضوعات التي تؤرق الساسة والإقتصاديين في الجزائر، خصوصاً مع تنامي إيرادات النفط وتزايد المسؤولية في ذلك من صناع القرار.
وتتمثل أهداف هذه الدراسة في إبراز الدور الأمثل للسياسة الإقتصادية الكلية دون التركيز على سياسة واحدة بعنيها، وهذا لمعرفة مدى تأثر متغيرين إقتصاديين مهين بالسياسة الإقتصادية وهما: "زيادة نمو الإقتصادي أو على الأقل المحافظة على مستوياته الثابتة من سنة لأخرى: "تخفيض أو تثبيت مستويات التضخم بالتحكم في الأسعار".
ومن جهة أخرى فهذه الدراسة تركز على أوليات التدخل الأمثل بواسطة السياسة الفعالة، ولن يتأتى ذلك إلا بالتنسيق والتكامل بين السياستين المالية والنقدية، وهذا بغية تحقيق الأهداف المسطرة المتمثلة في تعظيم مستويات النمو وتقليل مستويات التضخم.
