كتاب القواعد العربية في مضمون مفيد قد صمم لمساعدة الطلبة والأساتذة الذين يؤكدون على أهمية القواعد، ويجدون من الصعوبة بمكان استخدام الطرق والمناهج الحديثة في تعلم، أو تعليم اللغات الأجنبية. ولأول وهلة يبدو هذا الكتاب ككل كتب النحو التقليدية الموجودة في الأسواق، فهو يتناول بشكل منتظم كل المواضيع المألوفة كالأفعال الصحيحة والمعتلة، المؤنث والمذكر، الجمع السالم وجمع التكسير، الصفات، الضمائر، الظروف، وأحرف الجر. إلا أنه في الحقيقة يختلف تمام الاختلاف عن كتب النحو العربي السائدة.
أولاً: لا يعير الكتاب أهمية كبرى للنظريات النحوية والشروح الفائضة، بل يقلل من ذكرها ويركز على استخدام اللغة العربية الحديثة عارضاً نماذج مختلفة، وأمثلة متباينة. ومن خلال هذه النماذج والأمثلة يستطيع الطالب والأستاذ اكتشاف القواعد المطبقة ضمناً بشكل عملي.
ثانياً: معظم الأمثلة الواردة في هذا الكتاب مأخوذة من حوار الدروس، أو نصوص الفهم التي درست في كتاب العربية الحديثة للمتقدمين. والقصد من ذلك هو مساعدة الطالب على التمكن من المفردات الجديدة والنماذج المختلفة. وبهذا تصبح القواعد والنصوص شيئاً واحداً، ويكمل الكتابان بعضهما البعض. ولا يتذكر الطالب فقط القاعدات النحوية المذكورة، بل المفردات التي تعلمها في الماضي، واستخدمها في مضمون مفيد.
