في هذا الكتاب سيرة ذاتية برسم الغير، تسردُ تاريخ المؤسسة التي نابت عائلة فلسطينية، آل ناصر، بإنشائها، عن الحركة الوطنية الفلسطينية في تدشين رافعة أكاديمية وثقافية وسياسية للمشروع الوطني الذي أظهرَته إلى الوجود منظمة التحرير الفلسطينية: جامعة بيرزيت. سيرةٌ يجمع عنوانها ومتنها بين "جابي برامكي" و"جامعة بيرزيت" كحكاية لسدانة المشروع الثقافي الفلسطيني وتوجيهه في أبرز مراكزه التنويرية، عاكسةً فرادة تجربته الفردية، وفرادة التجربة الجماعية التي تسردها تجربة تدشين جامعة بيرزيت كمؤسسة وطنية فلسطينية في ظل الاستعمار الاستيطاني الصهيوني لفلسطين: أكاديمياً، وبحثياً، ومجتمعياً.
في سيرة برامكي، التي غيَّب الموت صاحبها قبل اكتمال قوسها، تجتمع هذه الفرادات وتُروى على لسان واحد ممن عاصروها لحظة بلحظة منذ تكويناتها الأولى. ونظراً إلى كون برامكي (1929-2012) قد عاصر الفترات الأربع لتخلُّق هذه الجامعة (في ظل الانتداب الاستعماري البريطاني، والحكم الأردني، والاستعمار الصهيوني، والسلطة الفلسطينية)، فإن هذه المذكرات تعدُّ مساهمة يندر نظيرها في مدوَّنات التاريخ السياسي والاجتماعي والثقافي الفلسطيني، إذ هي مفردٌ بصيغة الجمع؛ ذلك بأن الكتاب ليس سيرة لبرامكي فحسب، ولا لبيرزيت بصفتها جامعة، ولا لبلدة بيرزيت وتاريخها الاجتماعي بين القدس ورام الله وشمال فلسطين... بل هو تاريخ لفلسطين وحكاية التعليم العالي فيها، وقصة مقاومتها الاستعمار الاستيطاني الصهيوني والاحتلال العسكري الإسرائيلي على امتداد أربع حقب تاريخية في تاريخ الشعب الفلسطيني.
